travel from phuket to bangkok

hi, planning our first trip to thailand with primary school aged children. Was wondering about affordable travel from phuket to bangkok. Is the bus trip scenic or would be better to get a short flight? We are leaning towards flying as our daughter gets travel sickness. what airlines do this route?

Its only a short flight from Bangkok to Phuket, we did it a few months ago with Air Asia, booked when they had a special of 10 baht. Sign up for their emails, they (as of yesterday) had flights for about $15 plus taxes.

I agree with Cathy. To fly would be much better, the bus trip would be more than 12 hours, as that%26#39;s how long it takes to drive. The flight is only about an hour.

thanks for the advice. i have joined the air asia mailing list as you suggested. Not planning to travel until july next year so have heaps of time to look out for sales.

If you are just going Phuket to bangkok then i would fly, the bus takes about 13 hours and i would not recommend at all, take the flight.

There are though of course some superb places %26#39;between%26#39; Phuket and Bangkok to visit, but you would need 4-6 days if staying in 2 or 3 places, in particular along the coast of the Gulf of Thailand, but if simply going between the 2 places then fly.
