karon beach or kata beach??

hello everybody.

i am a bit confused and cant make up my mind. i am planning to visit phuket in a few months and we, my 8 year old son and i, want something more quite than patong.

so what place has the most to offer, Karon or Kata beach??

any ideas and recommandation is highly appreciated...

karon beach or kata beach??

Hello

I prefer Kata Beach as it is the nicer beach. It also has a smaller beach kata noi which is fabulous and only shared by two hotels mom tri%26#39;s villa royale and the katathani resort. There are plenty of other hotels in kata kata beach resort is very popular this sits on the main beach at kata.Kata also has a good choice of restaurants in the area with even more at kata center. If you let us know what your budget is we can then recomend any good resorts and hotels.I can recomend the Katathani a lovely hotel and very child friendly.

karon beach or kata beach??

hi Julie...

thanks for your reply. i just checked out the hotels you mentioned and they look great. but a little pricey for us. i was thinking of spening about 2000 baht per night on hotel as we are planing on staying for a week.

how long does it take to get to karon beach and patong from kata beach??

When i you planning on going? As hotel accomodation prices increase dramatically from November-April.Now is low season and a lot of inter- net hotel web sites offer the best savings(Asiarooms,wotif.com)are two that spring to mind, are reliable and offer savings. If you are going soon look up Karon Sea Sands Resort and Spa on one of the sites i%26#39;ve mentioned.See what they offer(book 6 ..pay for 4 etc...)Not sure the quality of some of the others.Others who live down in Phuket may be able to help?It%26#39;s about a 10 minute taxi ride to Patong from Karon and 15 minutes from Kata.If you are really on a budget try %26#39;The Kata Villa%26#39; to stay at,basic but o.k.

Hi,

Check out the Phuket Orchid Resort in Karon Beach, it%26#39;s centrally located and the resort is a paradise for kids with its swimming pools. Not over-pricey either.

I have just returned from Patong, Kata and Karon. You can bargain cheap prices right now from 550THB per day upwards. It is good if you book for two to seven days days and then look around or bargain as it is quiet and many guesthouses are not advertised on the net. Kata is a prettier beach and cleaner however mostly the tourists are couples and friends. Karon is a little friendlier. You can take a bus that runs between the two for 80 cents. Kata villa is reasonable, clean with the basics and family friendly. It is closer to shops and restaurants, has a pool and opposite kata Beach, and Karon which is about 15-20 min walk or catch the bus (runs every half hour). Can pour down at times so bring an umbrella or check if the resort has one.

Hello,

A nice hotel in Karon is the Pacific Club Resort i have stayed there and was very impressed. Have a look at www.pacific-club-phuket.com this place also has a fantastic restaurant.

hi,

i stayed at the Katathani(kata noi), its a bit expensive but on the beach. Kata has the dino bar which you boy would like its a mini golf course with dinosours %26amp; volcanos that erupt and a restaurant, it also has a real baby elephant that comes out!

Kata is a bit hillier than Karon and is prettier %26amp; nicer i feel. it has a couple of main strip with shops, restaurants etc. Karon is 5 minutes drive from Kata, and seems more spread out-probably bigger.

to catch a tuk or taxi its 350-400bht to patong.

either way both good areas with less hoochie mumas, ladyboys and pole dancing that comes out at night! make sure you go to the Giant buddua its being built but for 100 bht you can buy a marble tile that you can write on then they use it to build the buddua. it is a monks shrine to the tsunami, the monks will bless you its a good experience (but %26#39;dont%26#39; pat the dogs! tetnus and 5 rabies injections later! get travel insuance!)if your in to quad bikes do the ATV trip if your up to it, but have your son on the back! he will love it! cya

thanks everybody for some really good advice and recommendation.

i have decided on staying in Kata, not sure of what hotel yet but i am not in a hurry.

cant wait to go back to wonderful Thailand.
