Furniture/Thai Bits and Pieces for the Home

Hi everyone, we are planning our first visit to Pattaya in November. Staying at the Sheraton Hotel.

Does anyone know of any good shops where I can buy furniture/bhudhas/pictures and general Thai style things for the house????

Also, any information on the Sheraton would be much appreciated. Many thanks xx

Pattaya has lots of good modern malls. In some of the malls you can purchase or look at furniture. One furniture store that I recall is next to the Friendship Supermarket, left side. www.pattaya.com/hightlight/day_life/index.asp

There are some restrictions on buying and exporting Buddha statues:

Just walking down Pattaya 2nd Road, Beach Road and in the Walking Street area you will pass little artist kiosks/shops.

In Pattaya a room with air, hot water, cable TV, private toilet/bath and daily clean up will start around 400 baht. The Sheraton, for Pattaya, is almost at the luxury level for pricing. If this is the hotel

It is a nice place - but I don%26#39;t care for the location! That is my opinion of course, but you are not that close to what is happening in Pattaya. If you want to hang around the hotel all the time then it won%26#39;t matter - but my preference is closer to Pattaya 2nd Road so you can WALK to many places or take the cheap 10 baht baht bus rides.

From your hotel you have to either walk a long distance (I have walked around that area, but I always walk a couple hours almost every day) or barter with the local baht bus pirates outside your hotel area. The hotel may have free rides - I don%26#39;t know?? Normal baht bus rides in the Pattaya City area are only 10 baht, you wave a baht bus down, hop on and when you get to your turn or destination - push button on ceiling and get off. Pay only 10 baht, have proper change. If you tell the driver where to go you pay a custom rate.

Another Pattaya map you can use.

Take the 20 baht ferry ride from Bali Hai Pier to Koh Larn for a few hours. Several movie theaters in Pattaya showing current new releases for real cheap admission! Lots of cheap restaurants. Jomtien Beach is okay for swimming, Pattaya Beach is not okay for swimming by tourists, okay for walking and shopping and restaurants - but European/American tourists don%26#39;t swim there!

Good luck.

Thank you so much for all the useful information - have noted the relevant websites etc.

Thanks once again xx

Try ';Thai Decor'; on Threppasit rd

If you have time, fly to Chiangmai, you will be spoiled for choice at much cheaper cost than in Pattaya.

Simply saying its cheaper up north is a fallacy - Cheap really depends on how much you want to buy.

Of course anything you buy up north will have to be shipped back.

Thai Decor buy from manufacturers (not wholesalers) in several regions of Thailand including Chiang Mai, the Burmese border and down in Korat. Depending on what they are buying. They also commission work too.
