Phi Phi or not ??

Advice please

We visited Phi Phi a few years ago just before the Tsunami hit and thought it was the best place ever, but are due to visit the Krabi Province in November and are debating going back - hearing lots of reports that it%26#39;s now over commercialised etc and just not the same.

Is it still worth 1 or 2 day visit?

Phi Phi or not ??

Hi Sarah.

Yes it is commercialised but i still love the place. Any beautifull place is going to suffer from the hordes of day trippers. It is still possible though to hire a longtail and find your own beach around Phi phi with nobody on it. I found a beach last year deserted with just a beach shack cafe on it and a few back packers. If anybody can tell me where it was so i can go back as i have not got a clue would love to know the name. It was near Ton Sai facing the sea to your left.I must admit i was not impressed with Ton Sai but prefer the lovely quiet beaches, and the snorkeling there is so great.

Phi Phi or not ??

Yes Phi Phi has certainly changed over the past few years, as has Krabi. Both places still are very much worth visiting and as the previous poster mentioned those quiet beaches can still be found.

November will be an ideal time for your visit. Good weather and tourists numbers not at their peak.

Julie,

How long did it take and how much did it cost to get a longtail boat to Phi Phi?

Thanks

Hi Sarah,

The longtail boat we hired on Phi Phi we paid 1500baht.They will take you whereever you want to go we just said desterted beach. I would not go by longtail from Ao Nang as i think it is too far in open sea. In the past we have hired a speedboat from a local on Railay.

Hi Julie,

Thanks for the response. Thought it maybe a little too far. We went to Phi Phi on one of the 5 island tours and would like to go back and maybe spend a little longer. Will look into it further when we get there.

Hi Sarah,

If you are interested in Phi Phi but something a bit different have a look at www.andamancampandcruise.com it is run by an austrailian lady called Elisabeth and her Thai husband. I have booked a trip to Phi Phi and Bamboo Island you can do a day trip or overnight either camping or more luxurious accommodation.

Hi Julie,

I had a look at this before but didn%26#39;t know whether they would just take us to Phi Phi and leave us there for a few hours and then bring us back?

How long do you think it would take by Longtail to Phi Phi?

Thanks

Hi Sarah.

It would be too far for them to take you and leave you and then come back again. They would have to hang around on Phi Phi somewhere. I can not say how long it would take to get there as i do not know what type of boat they use for this trip. I did read the other year that they had a boat with a loo on it. I have never seen a longtail with a loo.Elisabeth is allways quick to reply to the e mails and would tell you what can be done if you tell her what you would like to do.All her trips are custom made to your own requirements.

We%26#39;re heading to Phi Phi in November as well. Can you reccomend a few places to stay that are in the quieter areas than Ton Sai %26amp; Lo Dalam?

thank you!

Hi Julie,

I will drop them an email.

Thanks again
