Ko Lanta - best beach/accommodation

Hi

Have finally decided to visit Ko Lanta (mid Nov) over Kho Lak, but are now struggling with what area (ie beach) and what accommodation to stay at.

Love great beaches, but also like there to be somewhere to go at the night time, hawker stalls %26amp; a few bars to have a drink, shops to be book diving %26amp; trips etc.

As Ko Lanta is our longest stay, we would really like this to be our best accommodation during our whole trip (boutique style if we can up to £70 a night?), but all I keep finding is individual bungalows, and the safety aspect keeps getting in my way of booking them

Please help

Sarah

Ko Lanta - best beach/accommodation

Hi,

I%26#39;m no great expert, but I%26#39;ve stayed on Lanta 3 times. I don%26#39;t understand what you mean about the safety aspect, Lanta is just about the safest place I%26#39;ve been in my life, there%26#39;s virtually no crime at all in high season, there is a little bit of petty crime out of season when lots of the locals have no income. I would not let any safety consideration influence my decision.

The last couple of times I%26#39;ve stayed on Long beach (Pra-Ae). (In a Thai house with a great deck - loved it) Pra-Ae has most of what you list, the beach is not the best that you%26#39;ll find in Krabi, but there are places to go at night, great place to have a sundowner and watch the sun set over Phi Phi, there are a few bars along the beach and more on the road that runs parallel, restaurants as, plenty of diving, etc. Even a 7 - 11 with an ATM. Can%26#39;t say I%26#39;ve noticed any hawkers, but Saladan is only a couple of miles up the road.
