Hi all,
We%26#39;ve got 2 days in bangkok at the beginning of our stay. We%26#39;d like to take it reasonably easy to recover from the long flight, get used to time and weather difference. This is what I%26#39;m thinking:
Day 1:
Grand Palace
Jim Thompson%26#39;s House
bit of shopping
Day 2:
Canal tour of Thonburi + Taling Chan floating market - is the floating market any good?
Wat Arun
Wat Pho
possibly Flower market in Chinatown or national museum (I think that%26#39;s what its called)
(taxi for Hua hin booked for 6:30pm)
Is this too easy? Are there any must see places that I%26#39;ve missed? Should I re-organise it in a more logical way - we are staying at Shangri-la?
Lots of questions, would appreciate any tips.
Bangkok ';light'; - 2 day itinerary
Wat Pho is behind the Grand Palace, and Wat Arun is a very short boat ride away. The National Museum is 5 minute walk from the palace. But its a lot for one day in the heat.
Shopping and Jim Thompson house would be better togather on the same day.
Bangkok ';light'; - 2 day itinerary
It might just be me but I found the Jim Thompson house uninteresting. The floating market is just some old women in boats selling fruit, veg and flowers. Boring. I would sooner go to the Vimanmek Mansion, the original palace of the kings of Siam. Tours available in English and a fair number of other buildings you can look in and around.
Shopping can often wait till after 6 pm. MBK, Silom night market, etc.
Scrap Jim Thompson - pure tourist trap. Reminds me of time-share shopping with all the tuk tuks parked outside
