Which hotel is better (location and value for money)

Hi all, which hotel is better for a first visit to Bangkok?

1) Conrad

2) Sheraton Grande

3) Shangri la. Is this hotel located in a bad neighbourhood?

Thanks,

JC

Which hotel is better (location and value for money)

The Shaagri La is not in a %26#39;bad%26#39; neighbourhood. It is by the river and close to a shopping mall. The Conrad is right in the heart of the city, and is aimed more at business people, but has all the facilities you want. A 5 minute walk to skytrain.

Which hotel is better (location and value for money)

Conrad is centrally located but, for a first visit if BKK I%26#39;d prefer Sheraton Grand or Shangru La.

Shangri La is on the river and next to BTS (Bangkok Sky train) on good location for restaurant and bars. By BTS you may go almost everywhere in BKK (Silom, Surawing, Siam shopping areas) and Chatuchak week-end market. Next to this hotel you find the pier where you may take a boat (River Express Boat) to Old Town (Grand Palace, Wat Po and son on). So location is wonderful and you may esaily reach every area of town. Negative point: some complaints about room. Some room have no river view (they have view on a busy riad and skytrain) so it%26#39;s better to control very well what kind of room you choose.

Sheratin rand Shkhumvit is in Sukumvit Road (full of restaurants, bar and shopping complex) and it%26#39;s next to Sky train. Far from the river, but you may reach by Skytrain (Spaahan taksin) in few minutes. I%26#39;ve heard no complaints about this hotel. Now, the choose is up to you! For me, I%26#39;ll stay in Sheraton. No disappontmnet with room!

All close to sky train(BTS). Shangri-La is now under renovation(have read from other TA members, i stayed there 2 years ago but didn%26#39;t realize it looked old)

Sheraton Grande is the best for me but is more expensive than Conrad and Shangri-La

For a 1st visit I would rate

1 - Sheraton Grand - Located in the city centre, connected to the skytrain. Nice rooms, easy location to explore BKK

2 - Shangri-La - Nice hotel, next to the river but it is on the other side of the river and public transit is not as convenient.

3 - Conrad - Business hotel. Nice hotel located on ';embassy row'; Not a good choice for 1st timer to BKK as it is a wlk to the skytrain.

Of the three I would go for the Sheraton for convenience of location, close to shopping sky train and easy access to the whole city.

Thank you all for your help.

I will stay some nights at the Sheraton Grande and maybe 1 or 2 nights at the Peninsula.
