2 days in Bangkok

I will be in Bangkok Oct 5-7, could stay longer. I have never been before, where is the best location to stay, walking distance to markets, etc. 3+ stars. Then going to Phuket, Karon or Kata beach? possibly going to Malaysia or Philipines. Have 2.5-4 weeks-very flexible. Prefer beaches not too crowded, shopping.

Hi, if you are looking for a 3+ stars place within 0-15 minutes walking distance to street markets in Bangkok, check out the following:

Ibis Siam Hotel, near Victory Monument with its street markets, or 15 minutes to Pratunam wholesale garment market on foot.

Baiyoke Boutique Hotel - in the middle of Pratunam garment market.

Indra Regent Hotel - next to Pratunam garment market.

Narai Hotel in Silom district, with the night market at its doorsteps, Silom Village 5 mins on foot.

Trade-off of staying near markets are street noise at night and traffic congestion in the day.

IMHO it is better to stay in a hotel along the skytrain route so you%26#39;ll have easy access to both street markets and malls. One in 3+ star category includes Asia Hotel, rather retro with lousy service, but has a walkway on its 2nd floor leading to the Ratchathewi skytrain station.
