Any suggestion on Holiday destination for family

Hi everyone, just a quick question.

We are looking for a cheap - but nice holiday destination in Nov for 2 adults and 2 kids under 12.

We have been to Phuket before and wanted to expereince something different in Thailand.

We were looking at Pattaya but then received a few PM%26#39;s from Trip Advisor Users saying I wouldnt take a young family there.

Some of the resorts seemed cheap and lovely enough and its not as if we would take the kids into a go go bar anyhow!!!

Can anyone suggest a location within a reasonable travel distance from Bangk Airport....as I said Pattaya seemed ok but is there other places with nice resorts cheaper and just as close to Bangk that we dont know about??

Thanks for your advice in advance.

Oz,

the only other alternative is Hua Hin. Car drive from Bangkok and meant to be more laid back that Patong or Pattaya. I have been looking at both and Pattaya does seem cheaper but I think there is a risk you could end up somewhere sleezy.

Thanx Freddy.

I think Pattaya is the go this time.

Dont get me wrong if you went to the wrong places in Patong it appears just as sleazy (prob on a smaller scale so i read from the other posts).

We are looking for a nice resort - cheap and also alot of cheap shopping for the wife.

Patong was great but we want to experience something different this time.

Thanx again for your advice. Really valued!

Hua Hin is just a taxi or limo ride from Bangkok Airport, takes about 2.5 hours. If you travel from Bangkok you can also take a 4 hour train ride, ok if you enjoy trains, or cheap is the express bus, about every 30 minutes.

Plenty of on beach places to stay with absolute beachfront. If you want a modern style place to stay with a family and don%26#39;t mind being a bit out of thown the Courtyard by Marriott Cha Am / Hua hin is excellent. Large swimming pool area with water slide is great fun whatever your age ! Also nice restaurants and a great cafe restaurant by the beach. Great kid%26#39;s facilities, it really is excellent.

There are also plenty of budget hotels and places to stay at the beach. Some holiday apartment units also. getting around is cheap and easy. Also on the beach Marriott resort, Holiday Inn etc plus other places.

Town has night markets, shops, restaurants, some Thai shows.

You can day-trip to see the bridge on the River Kwai, also half day and day trips to temples, waterfalls, national parks, off road ATV etc etc, plenty to do. Day trip fro snorkeling also.

Laid back and pretty much tout-free.

Unless you wanted lots of night-lifre I don%26#39;t honestly see the pouint of doing Pattay over Hua Hin. We go to pattaya for weekends but we much prefer Hua hin, and for a family holiday I think you would love it. A family from perth just did a JBR for Hua Hin, I will see if I can find and post for you.

Recent JBR for Hua hin from gismo from Perth

and then part 2

Another JBR from Faycheshire ( UK I think )

I confirmed that Hua Hin is better that Pattaya.

Or if you and your family prefer island, please please welcome to Samet island. It%26#39;s not too far from Bangkok, of clause it%26#39;s further than Hua Hin and Pattaya, but it%26#39;s easier to get there. If you would like to know, please send PM to me.

Thankyou for your advice.
