New Years Eve at the Peninsula

We are booked to stay at The Peninsula for 3 nights including New Years Eve and are wondering whether anyone has experienced their Gala Dinner on the Terrace before. At Baht 15,800 (GBP250) it seems eyewateringly expensive but we are tempted to go for the experience if it%26#39;s really good - any advice appreciated!

New Years Eve at the Peninsula

I stayed at The Pen in Chicago during NYE and while it may have a different theme and maybe even vibe, the experience was truly world class. The food was over the top and Michael Boublay (spelling is off but the guy in Vegas who sounds like Sinatra) was the act.

You won%26#39;t regret the investment. It is, after all, The Pen.

New Years Eve at the Peninsula

We have stayed at the Pen - great hotel. Its the little things like an outside temperature gauge in the rooms with a humidity reading as well. Oh, and a TV behind glass at the end of the bath so you can wallow and watch TV! I would imagine that a New Year dinner there would be v memorable. Watch the world%26#39;s financial system crumble in style as 2009 appears! If you don%26#39;t do it, you%26#39;ll regret it forever, wondering what it would have been like. Alternatively, try the open-air Vertigo restaurant on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree hotel - bet their NY offering will be spectacular!

Thank you both for your encouragement! We have booked a table on the terrace - Roll on December! I thought the Credit Crunch was a breakfast cereal..!

IMHO the best atmosphere on NYE will be and has always been in front of Central World Plaza.

Huge party with lotsa food and drink stalls and the road is also closed, making one BIG party.

And it does not cost an arm and both legs.
