getting to Railey

i need to get from Chiang Mai to Railey- what is the best option?

- fly from chiang mai to bangkok, and then change flight and fly Bangkok to Krabi?

OR

- fly direct from Chiang mai to Phuket- and then bus/taxi?

also any recommendation on cheap domestic airlines?

I have travelled both ways and both are as easy. By road from Phuket airport it is approx 2.5 hours and between 2500b to 3000 baht a nice scenic drive.Plenty of drivers on the phuket forum site to book with. I would look at costs and then decide.

Thai Airways offers internal flights from Chiangmai to Krabi(Via BKK as you spoke). I thought it was around $ 150

Air Asia is cheapest but would get risk of a long delay :( I once got stuck at the airport for 4 hrs. couldn%26#39;t believe it!

Possibly the cheapest airlines will be AirAsia so through BKK. They are a point to point carrier so it is bags off, collect bags, check in again in BKK.

If you go direct to Phuket you can get a minivan to Krabi for around 250baht per seat. Takes 2.5 - 3 hrs
