Meal prices Le Meridien Khao Lak

Could anyone give me a ball park figure for a 3 course evening meal for 2 at the restaurants at Le Meridien?

Are we talking £50 for 2 people (3164 baht approx) or more or less?

Does anyone know how much a bottle of wine is in the hotel (approx) - either in baht or british sterling would be great.

Thanks

There are 3 main restaurants (or there were when I last stayed there), one the grill (which also had occasional speciality evenings), a classic Thai and latterly a seafood grill by the beach. There is also one which is open to non- residents (well they all are but this one is priced to try and attract people from outside) with oriental, Korean, grills etc at more like local prices both for food and drink. Depends when you are going though as they don%26#39;t open it unless plenty in the hotel or in Khao Lak.

I am sure our resident Le Meridien resident, Jenson, will update and correct me when she joins this thread but £50 would more than cover 2 people in any of the restaurants for a 3 course meal, unless you really push the boat out with lobster, imported steaks and other high priced items. Wine was not cheap by the glass or the bottle nor I have to say particularly good. It may have improved but I paid well over £20 for an ordinary sounding and less than ordinary tasting Aussie white.

However, again, depending on when you are going, if it is High Season (November to April) there are many cheap and excellent dining options either within walking distance along the beach )the Rim Lay nearest, then 3 restaurants on Aow Thong (white Sand) Beach further around the headland past the next door Similana, the another 300 metres or so past the Sarojin (exceelent but expensive restaurant here) is the best IMHO beach restaurant in Khao Lak, the Boatyard. Take your own wine there (from the Nang Thong supermarket in Bang La On, the centre of Khao Lak where most restaurants (cheap and excellent) are situated). £50 will definitely get you lobster or huge tiger prawns and great fish, as well as ';regular'; Thai meals, there.

Expect to pay about 800 baht for a decent red or white from the supermarket which you are welcome to take to most restaurants not attached to hotels without a corkage charge.

What we spend on dining out on a weekend over here lasts us a week in Khao Lak! :)

Hello,

You will find that you have a choice of 6 restaurants at the LM.

Baan Thai thai food

Bamboo Bar %26amp; seafood grill international

Bangsak Grill Italian

Cafe Lilawadee Buffet

Kuk Kak Grill Indian

Pavillions Korean BBQ %26amp; Japanese

Two courses per person about 1200baht.Wine is allways expensive i can not remember the price as i had beer or cocktails. The bamboo bar is lovely in the evening and the Baan Thai has a really nice setting overlooking a lake with black swans. The italian is another favourite of mine overlooking the pool. They are not all open every night as they take it in turns to close for a night. Also whatever you eat and drink in the hotel is subject to tax and service charge of 17% total.

As Arandora has said the Rim Lay on the beach to the left of the hotel is in a lovely setting and will serve you the freshest of seafood for a fraction of the price if you do not mind plastic plates.

Also plenty of restaurants in Bang La On Jai%26#39;s is very good The Everyday House with a shuttle bus 100baht from LM best to book in advance. There is also a place over the road from the LM entrance that the LM staff all eat in i have not tried that one but they reckon it is very good i will try that next time. The boatyard rest is a must.

The LM is a fantastic hotel and you will have a wonderfull time here.If you need any other help happy to help.

Julie
