Koh Samui Beaches

My husband and I are getting ready to book a hotel in Koh Samui for our anniversary trip. Does anyone have any suggestions for areas in Koh Samui that have nice beaches you could do some snorkeling but yet close enough to the night life where we won%26#39;t be too far away from everything? Also, any particular hotels you can suggest are appreciated. Thanks!

Koh Samui Beaches

There are lovely beaches in Samui but none of them offer good snorkelling. You really need to take a day trip to the National Park or Koh Tao to see anything worthwhile. Chaweng is the best beach but for that reason it is busiest - particularly the middle. Depending on your age you may prefer to avoid it. The south of the beach however has some lovely hotels and is quiet and good for swimming. The north of the beach is also quietish and has some great accommodation but the water is very shallow. Choengmon is (IMHO) the prettiest beach and a bit quieter but still only 10 mins from the action by taxi. Bophut is a golden (the others are white) beach and can be narrow when the tides are in but Fisherman%26#39;s Village offers good eating and there are some super hotels here. I don%26#39;t know Lamai beach well. There are loads of good hotels on all the beaches. Personal favourite is Sala Samui on Choengmon.
