How much do you want?? If you only want a small amount, you can buy small squares in the supermarket, they are quite inexpensive and come in different sizes in packets of about 9-10 pieces. They come as small at 1cm squares. If you want larger pieces then best to try a shop which sells temple items, such as candles, baskets, etc. There are many of these around Chiang Mai and they are clear to see. Or try the Chinatown area near Wororot Market.

Many of the ';gold leaf '; that is found cheap in the markets are actually gold foil and contain no gold but are the same material used in printing like Thai wedding invitations.

The lacquer shops will sell you the real gold foil and is easy to test as does not burn.
