First Timer Needs Directions

Greetings All,

I am counting down for my first trip to Phuket, just under a month to go. Thanks to the kind people here I have a good idea of what to expect. I will be staying in North Patong on Hat Patong Rd. I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the area. Are there any good restraunts, bars, etc. in the area or are things more located by Bangla Rd. ?

How long of a walk is it down to Bangla Rd. Jungceylon area? Is it better to wait for the baht bus on the beach road and take the slow ride down? Thanks for any tips comments or sugestions!

hey, there are good places to eat every few meters, and there are heaps of places on bangla road, but bangla is more the nightlife district.

you can pretty much walk everywhere within the patong area, or there are thousands of tuk tuks (mini taxi/ bus thingo%26#39;s) lined up ready to take you, and the drivers will barter.

you can also hire a motorbike for a ride to whereever for around the price of a tuk tuk.

there is a pancake cart that i last saw outside the mcdonalds opp patong beach, that has the most awesome pancakes ever!

I stayed in North area of Patong before. It%26#39;s not the liveliest part but easy to find restaurants, pubs and shops. Is in walking distance to the hub of entertainment at night as well

Hi there, we love the northern end of Patong and its only a 10-15 min walk to Bangla (from Gracelands area - if you dont stop at shops or bars along the way) No need for a bus etc, just walk!

What hotel are you staying at?

Nickys Handle bar is northern end on Rat-u-Thit road, fantastic place for a drink or meal, Theres No 9 restaurant, Patong food court, have a look at my eating out pages there are over 30 restaurants we have been to and many of them up the northern end.
