Tours , where do i start?

Its will be our first time in Bangkok, two days at the start of out trip and two days at the end. We want to see the most and best of the city with our limited time. I have been told that the tour guides who operate from the Baiyoke Sky hotel cannot be trusted and will rip you off. What is the best way to go about it without being conned! Just find a travel agent? How do you know they are reputable? Do they collect you from your hotel and drop you off? Do you pay a fee and the whole tour in included, transport ect?

sorry for so many questions , we are very excited about our trip but dont have a clue where to start. I have been told with an attitude like this i will be conned!!!

Tours , where do i start?

You don%26#39;t really need a tour guide. Because of traffic using cars/taxis is a huge waste of time (execpt when there is no alternative). Use the skytrain from Siam station, go to Saphan Taksin. Under the station is Ta Sathorn pier. Take the Chao Phrya Express boat to Ta Chang pier. You%26#39;ll see the wall of the Grand Palace as you exit, and the entrance is a 5 minute walk. Don%26#39;t believe anyone who tries to tell you its closed for some special occasion. While there have a look at the Thai style building in from on the Sanam Luang (the big open space). Its the funeral pyre for a princes who died last year due to be cremated in November. Behind the GRand Palace is Wat Pho, famous for it%26#39;s reclining buddha. Later go back to the pier and get a ferry across to Wat Arun - Temple of the Dawn.

At National Stadium station you%26#39;ll see sign for the JIm Thompson House, wee worth a visit. A 10 minute walk from your hotel is Suan Pakkard Palace - the reception can give you directions.

Agree with Dragonc

You will not need a travel guide for Bangkok.

In the hotel there should be a tour desk with leaflets of the many places that you can go to.

Most you can do yourself via taxi or BTS or river express.

If you do go to the big temples you may want to join an internal tour with one of the official temple guides.

If you want to go to places/tours outside Bangkok I would suggest that as you are there only a short time you may be better to have the hotel arrange the tour for you.

Tours to Ayutthaya, river Kwai or ancient city crocodile farm and show normally I would suggest are day tours and would be worth you joining a group tour. They will collect you and return you to the hotel.

The tour desk will also have other 1/2 and full day tours available either as group or private.

Enjoy your trip
