Honeymoon in November

We will be doing our 21 day honeymoon in Thailand starting this November, heading home the end of the month. I really appreciate any help you can give me!

We have already planned the first 5 days in Bangkok, then 4 days in Chang Mai, then back to Bangkok. We will then have have about 10 days to burn before heading home and need some suggestions.

We will want to spend the last 3 days in a nice resort somewhere, to wrap up the honeymoon in style. Other than that, we don%26#39;t mind staying away from the touristy hotels and locations. We really hope to get top knotch diving in most days, and don%26#39;t know where the best place(s) would be. Also, we want more remote, off the beaten path.

We originally thought about Phuket, but realize that%26#39;s quite touristy. Although, it seems to be the best jumping off place for places that would best suit us. We are thinking about Ko Phi Phi as it%26#39;s more remote, but don%26#39;t know about the diving anywhere else. Are there other locations or islands that anyone would recommend? I know the diving at Ko Tao is incredible, but November is the rainy season there.

We don%26#39;t know where to go for those 7 days that we will have before the final 3 day luxury stay (any help of where to do that part would be great too). We need good diving, beaches, perhaps some hiking and/or climbing. All help is really appreciated!

One thought I had was to fly from Bangkok to Phuket, head to Phi Phi for a couple of days, back to Phuket for a 3 or 4 day liveaboard dive trip to the Similans, then back to Phuket for the 3 days at a nice resort. Anyone else have any suggestions? 5 locations in 21 days on a honeymoon could be overkill (Bangkok, Chang Mai, Phuket, Phi Phi, %26amp; liveaboard). Thanks again!

Kho Lak is fantastic...Hotels, food, diving and beaches..regards Janice

Since you prefer a less touristy spot, I second Khao Lak as it is close to some of the best diving that Thailand has to offer nd it is quieter than Phuket and Phi Phi. The diving is far superior than Kho Tao. Also this area is great for hiking.

Otherwise a Liveaboard from either Phuket or Khao Lak would also be the best way to go for the diving. You should set aside at least 4 days/4 nights to see the best of these sites. The Liveaboard boats range from backpack style to medium and sheer luxury class.

The Honeymoon cabins on The Junk - MV June Hong Chian Lee - are great and the atmosphere is very romantic on this boat.

Hope this helps and Happy Honeymoon!

It%26#39;s mostly true that Phuket is highly touristy, however, as a Phuket resident myself, I would say that the island is large enough to find the spots which are less tourist than others. For example, Naiyang Beach, Maikhao Beach, Layan Beach and Surin Beach. The recommended resorts for your luxury stay (last 3 nights) would be : Indigo Pearl, at Naiyang Beach, Sala Phuket at Maikhao Beach, Bundarika Villas at Layan Beach, and Twin Palms at Surin Beach.

Apart from Phuket, if you like outdoor adventures like hiking and diving, I would recommend Krabi and Trang, instead of Phi Phi. If you base yourself in Krabi, you will have plenty of opportunities in terms of activities and numerous beautiful islands nearby at your disposal. Some of the great places for your honeymoon in Krabi are : The Tubkaak, Sheraton Krabi, Amari Vouge, and Central Krabi Resort. The prices are not prohibitively expensive and are in good locations.

Or you can stay in Trang if you like islands, waterfalls and national parks. Amari Trang is a great place to be based.

Alternatively, you could also base yourself in Lanta Island. Much more touristy than before, but large enough to find peace and tranquility. For mid-range accommodations, but good for honeymoon, should be Sri Lanta, Twin Lotus, Layana. For Pimalai and Langham Lanta, could be a bit over the top in terms of Budget, but great for luxury stay.

Khaolak is also a good place to recommend if you dislike Phuket. Especially if you would like to go to Similan, Surin islands, then it%26#39;s the most convenient. Baan Krating Khaolak is a nice little hotel on the hilltop overlooks the beach. Or for a more upmarket type, La Flora is a good place to stay, small but beautiful. For top notch resort, The Sarojin is the place to go.

I don%26#39;t know how you draw the line between too touristy and not. However, the above-mentioned resorts are unique in style and not the usual big hotel atmosphere. I hope it helps you a bit.

This is awesome! Thanks so much for the info! If I go to Khoa Lak, and/or Phuket, how do I find one of the over-the-water bungalows? Any recommendations?

Also, I assume that not all the resorts have websites, and the ones that don%26#39;t have websites are probably cheaper, but harder to book. How would I find out about those?

We are now focusing on Khoa Lak, and are thinking about perhaps doing a 3-6 day trip out of Thailand. What would be a good place to take a small trip to durring this honeymoon? Perhaps Sri Lanka? Malaysia? Indonesia? any suggestions?

BTW, I have 75,000 Starwood points and would not be opposed to spending them all on the honeymoon!

Thanks again for all the help!
